FAQ

Everything you need to know about Happy Tail Mail.
If you have another question, we’re just an email away.
Getting Started
Every month, a small envelope shows up in your mailbox. Inside you’ll find a personal letter, a postcard or small art piece, a sticker or tiny extra, and occasionally something that makes you go “okay that’s exactly what I needed today.” Questionable wisdom, animal-related nonsense, and little reminders that you’re not the only one who talks to your pets like roommates.
Your first Happy Tail Mail arrives in a little padded mailer. Then come two flat-envelope months before the padded mailer returns. Not because we love padded mailers — because the post office gets surprisingly opinionated about tiny items. The padded mailer gives us room for a little something extra, with an invitation: keep it if you need it, carry it for a while, or pass it along when the universe, a dog park, or a random conversation suggests it’s time. So the rhythm goes: padded → flat → flat → padded. Different shape, same Happy Tail Mail journey.
Think of the padded mailers as bonus episodes. The regular envelopes are the story.
No. Happy Tail Mail is not a subscription box. There’s no avalanche of stuff, no filler, no “wow that’s a lot of tissue paper.” It’s a small, thoughtful envelope that feels like mail from a friend who happens to love animals a completely reasonable amount. Which is to say, not a reasonable amount at all.
Nope. Your first mailer comes with a little welcome note, and then you’re off. Everyone starts at the beginning and follows the same Happy Tail Mail journey, no matter when they subscribe — the same letters, surprises, and odd little mailbox moments, in the same order.
Sometimes something arrives in your mailbox that feels like it wants to keep moving.
A postcard. A sticker. A tiny object from one of the bubble mailers. If something speaks to you and you think it might speak to someone else too — a friend, a stranger at the vet, someone whose dog just made you smile — you’re welcome to send it on its way.
There’s no system. No missions. No points for participation. Just the occasional quiet thought that kindness travels better when animal people are involved.
If you pass something on and something comes of it, we’d love to hear about it over on the Pass-It-On Wall. But honestly even if you never tell us — that’s fine too. Some moments are just for the people in them.
A little. Maybe. Depends how suspicious you are of meaningful coincidences.
Happy Tail Mail is mostly about animals, love, humor, connection, and the strange little ways life feels softer because animals exist.
There may be occasional woo-adjacent moments, but nothing heavy, preachy, or “please align your moon spleen by Thursday.”
And if something feels a little too woo for you — that’s what the pass-it-on idea is for. You know exactly who to give it to. She has crystals on her desk and a very strong opinion about Mercury retrograde.
Happy Tail Mail is $14 per month, with six- and twelve-month prepaid options also available. Shipping is included.
What a wonderful idea! At checkout just enter the recipient’s name and mailing address instead of your own. If you’d like us to include a note letting them know it’s coming from you, just add it in the notes field at checkout — otherwise the first mailer will be a lovely mystery showing up in their mailbox. Either way works honestly.
One thing to know: the welcome mailer ships on the 15th, so if you’re gifting for a specific occasion it’s worth checking the date you order. Subscribe by the 14th and it ships that month. After the 14th it ships the 15th of the following month.
Shipping & Timing
Your welcome mailer ships around the 15th of each month. Join on or before the 13th and we’ll tuck your envelope into that month’s outgoing mail. Join after that and we’ll save a spot for you in the next one. Either way, something good is headed your way.
Address changes and cancellations need to reach us by the 13th. Mailers usually head out around the 15th. If you have a prepaid subscription, we’ll let you know when it’s getting close to renewal.
Around the 15th of each month. That’s our unofficial “stuff envelopes and make questionable amounts of coffee” week. If the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, we’ll visit the post office on the nearest business day.
Absolutely. If you subscribe on the 13th or later, your Welcome Mailer ships around the 15th of the following month. Good things are worth a little anticipation.
We ship around the 15th of each month. Most mail arrives within 1–2 weeks, though every postal route has its own personality. Regular letter mail travels without tracking; bubble mailers include tracking. If yours seems unusually delayed, just reach out and we’ll help figure out what to do next.
Currently Happy Tail Mail ships within the US only. We hope to change that eventually.
Managing Your Subscription
You can cancel anytime — no hard feelings, ever. Just drop us an email by the 13th of the month. We usually print and prep labels on the 14th, so anything after the 13th means that month’s mailer is already packed and on its way to you. The good news is you’ll still get it.
We don’t currently offer a formal pause option, but if something is going on — a move, a hard month, life being life — just reach out by the 13th and we’ll figure something out. We’re a small operation run by actual humans and we’d rather find a solution than lose you entirely.
Address changes need to reach us by email by the 13th — that’s when we prep labels for that month’s shipment. After the 13th your update takes effect the following month. We ship to the address on file at the time labels are created, so please double-check that it’s current. Unfortunately we’re unable to refund or replace mailers sent to an outdated address.
We’ll tuck a renewal reminder into your final included mailer. If you’d like to keep going, just follow the renewal link. If you use the same email address as before, we can usually match your renewal to your existing subscription.
If Happy Tail Mail was originally a gift, or you’re using a different email than before, send us a quick note at pawskers.prints@gmail.com after you renew and let us know you’re continuing an existing subscription rather than starting over. We’ll make sure your next mailer picks up right where the last one left off.
No worries. We’ll pick up your Happy Tail Mail journey where you left off. If your renewal comes in after that month’s mailers have already been prepared, your subscription will simply continue with the next available mailing.
Prepaid subscriptions are discounted because they’re purchased in advance, so they can’t be canceled or refunded once they’ve begun. They’ll simply continue until all of your mail has arrived, and then quietly come to an end unless you’d like more happy mail in your mailbox.
Help & Support
That’s on us and we’ll make it right. Just send us a photo of the damage and we’ll sort out a replacement or a credit. The post office is wonderful and also occasionally treats mail like a contact sport.
If a mailer comes back to us, we’ll let you know. We’re happy to reship once — just reply to our email and we’ll send you a payment link for the postage cost. If you’d prefer not to reship, we can offer a partial refund minus the original postage cost. Keeping your address updated is the easiest way to make sure nothing goes wandering.
About Pawskers
When you subscribe, we’ll ask for your email address for things related to your Happy Tail Mail subscription — payment receipts, renewal information, or anything we need to contact you about regarding your mail.
We won’t fill your inbox just because you subscribed.
Real mail is still the main event here.
Yes. Pawskers.com is where all of this lives. There’s a Pass-It-On Wall where animal people share small moments — a stranger’s dog, an odd little sign, a conversation that somehow happened at the exact right time. You can read, share, or just quietly nod along. No pressure to participate. It’s just a small corner for people like us.
Happy Tail Mail comes from Pawskers — a site for animal lovers who are a little curious about the universe, but not in a way that requires a guru or a crystal subscription.
It started with a dog named Paws, our Great Dane who turned into our full-time creative director and spirit guide whether we asked for that or not. We just follow his lead. And provide the snacks.
There’s a real person writing the letters, packing the mailers, and probably talking to animals more often than most adults would admit. That part matters, too.
You might notice the animals around here have a habit of looking both adorable and oddly enlightened. The illustrations on Pawskers are created with the help of AI tools. I want to be upfront about that because you deserve to know.
Here’s what’s also true: the concepts are mine. The humor is real. The eye for what looks right, what feels warm without becoming overly sentimental, what belongs in this little world — that’s mine too.
I’ve just always been better at seeing things than painting them. I have the eyes of an artist and the hands of a very enthusiastic raccoon. These tools let me finally get what’s in my head out into the world.
The animals you see here exist because I keep asking for exactly the right kind of awkward until they do. The right expression. The right amount of scruff. The right “I know something you don’t” look. Every image still gets worked on after that — colour corrected, adjusted, tweaked in Photoshop until it actually looks the way I heard it in my head. It’s a process. A slightly obsessive one.
